Members of our Board of Trustees serve on a voluntary basis, contributing their skills and expertise, working together to preserve and advance TMH’s mission. The board is responsible for selecting, evaluating and supporting the Executive Director; it also works to maintain superior services, to ensure accountability, and to protect TMH assets.
Before joining the Thompson Markward Hall staff, Jennifer served as the Director of External Affairs and Deputy to the Interim CEO for the Bazelon Center. In this role, she oversaw the fundraising, communications and operations of the Center, while supporting the Interim CEO. Prior to joining the Bazelon Center staff, Jennifer served as Deputy Director for the National Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition, where she directed the internal operations of the organization and managed the communications, nutrition and immunization programs, in addition to providing fundraising support and staff support for the organization’s National Board of Directors.
Jennifer’s career includes ten years on the development team for Mental Health America, formerly National Mental Health Association, as well as fundraising for other national health-focused nonprofit organizations, including the Foundation for Physical Therapy and the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists Foundation. Her experience includes special event planning, corporate, foundation and individual fundraising, including estate planning, planned giving, direct mail and major gifts solicitation. Additionally, Jennifer has consulted with and trained a variety of small nonprofits on various aspects of development and nonprofit management. In keeping with her passion for the nonprofit sector and supporting great causes, Jennifer served as Board Chair for the National Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition for three years prior to joining the staff as Deputy Director. Jennifer now serves as Chair of the Advisory Board for the College of Health Sciences at her alma mater, Old Dominion University.

We have a staff of five resident leaders who act as ambassadors for the residents and address immediate resident concerns. Resident leaders hold nightly office hours as well as house inspections to ensure that TMH remains safe and comfortable to all residents.
TMH offers 24-hour front desk service which allows residents to come and go as they please. You won’t need to worry about getting locked out because there will always be an attendant to let you in, no matter what time of day. The front desk staff is equipped to deal with resident concerns at any time of day or night. The front desk will be your go-to resource for all things TMH. Residents are welcome to apply to join the team in exchange for room and board credits. Learn more here.
